From radiant skin to effortless hair, this season is all about embracing natural beauty with a throw back to the 90's. Read on to see what's trending in hair and skin beauty for the summer of 2024.

Let's start with general beauty trends!

Sustainable Beauty

Sustainability continues to be a driving force in the beauty industry, and 2024 is no exception. Sun Protection, Always

Sun protection is a non-negotiable step in any beauty routine, especially during the sunny summer months. Incorporate SPF into your daily skincare routine, opting for broad-spectrum formulas that protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Don't forget to reapply regularly! Especially if you'll be spending time outdoors you definitely want to keep your skin safe and healthy all summer long. And don't forget about your locks too! Try Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Wash after the pool or beach (or even a sweaty day in the sun), and make sure to keep Aveda Sun Veil in your purse whenever you're out in the sun to ensure you protect your haircolor and strands!

Ok let's get into the haircut trends we are predicting for this summer!

90’s kids your decade is resurging in the hair scene!

It is the season for a Bob!

Reason being its versatile, creates fullness, and when cut properly is easy to wear air-dried, blown-out, curly or straight!

Seriously a bob is suitable for everyone and there is a bob out there perfect for your face shape! We love a great bob because it can contour facial features which gives you an instant face lift.

We are seeing a lot of the The ’90s Bob. Think Christy Turlington.

What makes it a 90’s bob?

This haircut has a strong shape which makes the hair appear fuller and has a soft yet blunt line mixed with personalized texturizing.  The length can very from jaw length to just above the collar bone. The point is to elongate the neck. It’s great because you can wear it with a middle part or side part (we see you millennial) and can be paired with or without a bang.

The New Rachel: ’90s “It Girl” Layers

Think Rachel Green in “Friends” and Cameron Diaz in most of your favorite chick flicks. This is a midlength texturized cut with layers galore and is the IT cut. It's fun to dress up or down! You can practice those blowout skills and pop in a few velcro rollers to make the layers pop with volume. For busy days you can turn and flip the ends of the layers with your flat iron and be ready to go in a flash.

What makes "IT Girl" layers?

This haircut features face-framing layers with soft ends and often paired with a long curtain bang that sweeps from the cheek bone. The over all length is important too,it should be around shoulder length to really bring back those Rachel Green vibes.

We love it because the cut can be adapted for any hair type or face shape. We think it's ideal for medium to thick hair and a longer face shape.

Grown Out Fringes (Bangs)

Whether you are growing out bangs or diving into the bang scene, we are predicting a longer eyelash grazing bang. The key here is avoiding a heavy part so you can switch up the look.

Longer bangs work for all hair types. It is the easiest to work with if you have straight hair that is medium in thickness. However, wavy, curly, fine, extra thick hair can work too! You might need to learn a few new tricks from your favorite hairstylist at UpLift.

Ok, so what about haircolor trends??

Bardot Blonde

Named after the iconic Brigitte Bardot, the Bardot-blonde trend achieves a solid blonde look with just the right touch of gold, resulting in a luminously rich and bright blonde.

This is beautiful on those who have warm undertones in their skin. If you look good in peach or yellow clothing, then this is a great color for you! It also makes green, hazel, and blue eyes POP!

Depending on what your natural color is, what previous hair color you have been doing will determine the maintenance level.

Modern Moneypiece

The money piece trend has evolved to a finer and more subtle highlight, softening this typically bolder hair color accent.

We love this because its about the technique and not a color choice, so anyone can wear it. The subtleness is wonderful as it lends to a lower maintenance color experience that helps to brighten up your face.

Old-Money Blonde

This shade is done with highlights that create fine, seamless transitions, paired with a subtly darker root for depth.

This one is for all you natural “dishwater” blondes and browns. It will take you back to your youth and mimic the fine color variations of when you used to spend your summers out in the sun. To really make the old-money statement opt for a very very light blonde color and your stylists can work off your natural color to help with the darker root look.

Candlelit Brunette

A warm and radiant brown hair color with subtle highlights and lowlights on your brown base.  The overall effect is meant to mimic the soft flickering glow of candlelight.

This looks absolutely stunning on women who have have olive or golden undertones in the skin. It’s the perfect match for brown or hazel or green eyes as it complements the warm and variations of yellow that tend to fleck into those eye colors.

We love this because this trend can truly ride out for the whole summer! Start off the summer with adding in some highlights and then just stop by for a gloss here and there to manage what tones are brought out after some sun exposure.

Cinnamon Copper

All variations of red are in, but copper seems to be the quickest on the rise when you are looking for a bigger change. This variation of copper tends to have cooler, brownish undertones with hints of red. It is often more subdued and earthy, resembling the rich, warm tones of cinnamon spice. It typically has a deeper hue, with less emphasis on bright, fiery red tones.

This is best on someone with fair to medium skin tones and typically with cooler undertones. If you look good in pink or light blue, this is the color for you! And, if you have light green eyes or blue eyes, get ready to WOW!

Peekaboo Pigment

Adding pops of pastel, vivid, and/or contrasting hair color to your head in hidden block sections is an up-and-coming trend.

Finally for those who are ready to be a bit more daring without feeling like they need to be in the salon every month, this ones for you. Again, we love a trend that is all about the technique and not a specific color because it’s all about us customizing the colors just for you, whether your ready for pink, purple, red, blue, or even just a few shades different than the color you are currently in.

As we step into the summer of 2024, let's embrace these beauty trends with confidence and style. Whether you're rocking a radiant glow, embracing your natural hair texture, or making a statement with a new cut or color, the key is to embrace what makes you feel beautiful inside and out.

So go ahead, let your beauty shine bright this summer and beyond book now!
